Condolences to the Muslim Community in San Diego

Dear members and friends,
It is with deep sadness that we learn about the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday, May 18th, where 3 brave members of their congregation were shot and killed while protecting the mosque and school.
The Islamic Center of San Diego is patronized by MIFNA members who reside in and around the city. Imam Taha, the mosque’s religious director, has officiated the nikah (marriage ceremony) for MIFNA members and/or their families and provided counsel on matters related to their Islamic faith. MIFNA members who frequent the mosque are familiar with brother Amin Abdullah (the security guard) and brother Mansoor Kaziha (storekeeper).
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of those martyred, Imam Taha and members of his congregation, and the Muslim community in San Diego as a whole. May God keep all of us safe from harm and protect our places of worship.
An interfaith vigil is planned for tonight, Tuesday, May 19th, at 6:30 pm at the Lindbergh Neighborhood Park, 4141 Ashford Street, San Diego, CA 92111.
