Emergency Fundraising for Student Member: Liyana Azmi

Salam members and friends, 

We are sad to inform you that MIFNA Student member, Liyana Azmi, daughter of MIFNA Family members, Azmi Samat and Nora Jaffar, has met with a misfortune.

On Thursday night, October 5, 2023, a fire broke out in her bedroom that consumed the entire room, including everything in it. Nothing from the room could be salvaged.

We thank Allah that Liyana was not in her room at the time of the fire and, thus not physically harmed by it. However, she has nothing to call her own, except for her school backpack and the stuff in it.

MIFNA Board of Directors has approved the setting up of an emergency fundraising to help Liyana with expenses in replacing basic furniture and necessities. The cause of the fire has been confirmed to be the battery of the electric scooter that was in her room.  According to the firefighters on the scene, fires caused by the batteries of electric scooters are not uncommon.  If you or someone you know has an electric scooter stored inside their room, house, or apartment, please take proper precautions.
