Ramadan and Shawwal 2023/1444AH Announcement and Events

Based on the decision of the Fiqh Council of North America, the Shura Council of Southern California has announced that the dates of Ramadan and Eid-al-Fitr for the year 2023/1444 AH are as follows:
Ramadan & Shawwal 2023/1444 AH
First Taraweeh: Wednesday night, March 22, 2023
First Day of Fasting (1st Ramadan): Thursday, March 23, 2023
Eid-al-Fitr (1st Shawwal): Friday, April 21, 2023
MIFNA Events in Ramadan
1st Communal Iftar (Majlis Berbuka Puasa): Saturday, March 25, 6 pm
Puan Anil Adenan, Consul-General of Malaysia in Los Angeles, will host the first iftar at her residence in Chino Hills.
RSVP is required and the event is limited to 150 guests. Please RSVP by texting MIFNA Director, Sam Hashim at 310-433-8969 with your name and number in your party.
Example: Hasnah Hamdan: 2 adults, 1 kid
2nd Communal Iftar (Majlis Berbuka Puasa): Saturday, April 8, 6.30 – 10.30 pm
The second communal iftar will be held at:

Program
6:30 pm: Guests arrival
7:00 pm: Guests line up for food
7:15 pm: Buka puasa
7:30 pm: Maghrib prayer
7:45 pm: Dinner
8:30 pm: Isha’ prayer followed by teraweeh prayer
10:00 pm: Clean up
10:30 pm: Vacate hall
MIFNA will be providing food and drinks for dinner. Guests are welcome to bring appetizers, desserts, or fruits for the iftar.
Here is the planned menu:
Nasi putih (steamed white rice)
Daging masak hitam/kicap (beef cooked with sweet black soy sauce)
Ayam goreng kunyit (fried chicken with salt and turmeric)
Ikan asam pedas (golden pompano in spicy and sour gravy)
Sambal goreng Jawa (Javanese style fried sambal)
Sayur campur (mixed vegetables)
Mee goreng (fried noodles with vege and chicken versions)
Meehoon goreng (fried rice vermicelli)
Nasi goreng kampong (fried rice kampong style)
Bubur lambuk (savory rice porridge)
Pizza (vegetarian and cheese options)
Bazaar Ramadan
MIFNA will be organizing two Ramadan bazaars this year. If you are interested in selling food or other items at the bazaar, please contact MIFNA Director, Salina Farkas at 310-701-1258 ASAP.

1st of Shawwal: Friday, April 21, 2023
MIFNA will observe Hari Raya Aidil Fitri (Eid al Fitr) on Friday, April 21, with Eid prayer (sembahyang Raya) followed by brunch.
Location: Skyview Event Center, 5257 Wineville Ave, Jurupa Valley, CA 91752
Time: 8:30 am to 2 pm.
Please mark these dates on your calendar and stay tuned for further updates as we get closer to each event. We welcome donations (monetary and in-kind), towards all upcoming events in Ramadan and Shawwal. Monetary donations may be made online at mifna.com or you may also directly contact MIFNA Treasurer, Anizah Hairudin at 562-547-9954. Donation boxes will also be available during Ramadan iftars and Solat Hari Raya and Brunch.
