2026 Hari Raya Haji Announcement and Lunch

1st Dhul Hijjah and Eid al-Adha (Hari Raya Haji)

The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California has just announced the start of the month of Dhul Hijjah and the date for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH. Below is an excerpt of the announcement:

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has officially announced the sighting of the crescent moon, marking the start of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH on Monday, May 18, 2026.  That means, the ‘day of Arafah’ (Hari Wukuf) will be on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and Eid al-Adha 1447 AH will be on Wednesday, May 27, insha’Allah.”

We wish all hujjaj (pilgrims) a safe journey and ask Allah to protect them.

MIFNA will not be organizing Qurban this year. Members can donate for Qurban through their local masjid or online to any Islamic charity organizations, such as:

Zakat Foundation of North America: https://www.zakat.org/
Islamic Relief: https://irusa.org/

MIFNA will not be organizing Eid al-Adha prayer this year either.  Members are encouraged to perform solat Eid al-Adha at their local masjid or Islamic center.  Please check the Shura Council website (https://shuracouncil.org/) for locations of communal Eid al-Adha prayers in Southern California on Wednesday, May 27.

MIFNA will be organizing an Eid al-Adha lunch on Sunday, May 31, 2026. All members and Friends of MIFNA are invited. A response (RSVP) is appreciated to ensure we have enough food, seats, and tables for the event.
